Audiometric surveillance
Audiometric surveillance is a process of monitoring workers’ hearing over time to identify early signs of noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL).
Audiometric surveillance, or monitoring, is an important component of any WA employers noise risk management program. Audiometric surveillance progams are designed to detect any hearing threshold shifts before they lead to permanent impairment, or NIHL.
With evolving regulations and stricter WHS requirements, audiometric testing remains a critical component of workplace health and safety in WA. Ensuring regular, compliant hearing tests not only protects workers’ wellbeing—it also reduces long‑term risks and helps businesses meet their legal obligations.
WHP not only provide the required audiometric testing onsite in Perth and around WA, we also provide record keeping, reporting and guidance to allow you to easily manage WHS Reg58 requirements.
Our risk management database also allows you to compare previous results, identify threshold shifts and monitor any hearing changes. This is an integral part of a WA employers required audiometric surveillance.

Under WorkSafe WA (WHS Regulations 2022, Reg 58), employers must provide audiometric testing for workers frequently required to wear hearing protection (noise ≥ 85 dB(A)). Testing must occur within 3 months of starting, then at least every two years.
